Medical-Related Hair Loss |
|
|
Partial or complete hair loss due to a medical condition such as radiation or Chemotherapy treatments can be emotionally devastating to a patient already suffering from the primary medical condition. We believe that looking your best helps you feel better, which helps you heal better. Many limit themselves to wearing wigs (which are hot, unrealistic looking, and having a fringe), as well as scarves and hats, which offers little comfort or a healthy-looking appearance which is vital to healing.
Hence, White Cliffs are pleased to offer our nonsurgical, medical hair replacement product "Mayfair HRD" that breathes like your skin, and is capable of giving a patient a completely natural, healthy appearance. Our Mayfair HRD device will replace all of the patient's hair and allows them to sleep, shower and perform all their normal daily activities (if they desire). Importantly, we know that a patient who achieves and maintains a healthy image during the recovery process will benefit tremendously from it. |

White Cliffs Mayfair HRD patient (Photo 1) before Cancer treatment. We have replaced her natural look before her treatment (Photo 2) so that her post-treatment appearance is the same (Photo 3). |
Our Mayfair HRD is the first FDA approved and registered hair replacement product in the world that is advanced, safe, effective and natural looking. Our solution is based on the belief that the quality of of life of medical-hair-loss-related patients depends on the quality of the hair replacement system.
These medical hair devices are specifically developed for the unique needs of oncology patients or those suffering from Alopecia. They are the first FDA listed cranial devices that are suitable for men, women and children and are virtually undetectable to both sight and touch.
Nobody needs to know, by looking at the patient, how ill a patient might be. With this solution, we fit you with a custom hair prosthesis before you lose your hair. That way, you are assured to look the same before, during and after the therapy.

Chemotherapy and Hair Loss
While chemotherapy drugs destroy cancer cells, the drugs also can destroy the same cells responsible for normal growth of hair and nails. Cancer patients often shed their hair and nails during chemotherapy treatment.
No hair growth stimulants, shampoos, conditioners or other cosmetic treatments can prevent or slow the hair loss. The good news, however, is that once chemotherapy is completed, the hair usually grows back.
Alopecia and Hair Loss
It is estimated that approximately 2.5 million men, women, and children in the U.S. have some degree of Alopecia Areata. There are three basic types of Alopecia Areata:
- Alopecia Areata: small, smooth circular areas of hair loss affecting less than 50% of the scalp.
- Alopecia Totalis: more than 50% hair loss on the scalp.
- Alopecia Universalis: complete hair loss affecting the scalp as well as the face and body. Although the cause is not yet clearly known, researchers feel Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune condition. Other than the hair and occasionally the nails, no other part of the body is affected.

Alopecia Areata occurs in males and females of all ages and all races and onset most often starts in early childhood and is often devastating psychologically. Though Alopecia not life-threatening, Alopecia Areata is certainly life-altering, and its sudden onset, recurrent episodes, and unpredictable course have a profound psychological impact on the lives of those disrupted by this disease.
